Andrew DeStefano - PT, DPT, Cert. DN Physical Therapist
Andrew attended Ithaca College, where he earned his Doctorate Physical Therapy (2012) and his bachelor’s degree in Clinical Health Science (2010). A lifelong athlete, Andrew’s passion for sports provided an ideal foundation for his career in physical therapy. His interest in promoting overall health and wellness—he minored in nutrition during his undergraduate study, and is a current certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as a certified nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition—bolsters his approach to patient education and evidence-based practice. Andrew has also completed a certification in Dry Needling (Cert.DN) through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. As the Digital Media Manager for Blue Hills Sports and Spine Rehabilitation, when he isn’t working with a patient he can often be found reading research articles, writing the monthly newsletter, or creating educational content for our social media pages. He believes that developing relationships with patients rooted in trust and effective communication is integral to effective treatment outcomes, and counts compassion and empathy as among the most important traits a physical therapist can possess.
A strong believer in the importance of continuing education, Andrew continues to expand upon his background in sports-based orthopedics as he develops advanced skills, working toward his Diploma in Osteopractic from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy. The program includes dry needle and spinal manipulation therapy certification, and focuses on incorporating evidence-based practice with manual therapy to optimize the quality of care and patients’ lives.
In his free time, Andrew stays active through strengthening and conditioning, puts his nutrition background to use while baking and cooking, engages his mind by reading a wide range of nonfiction books, and is the grateful human companion of a photogenic cat named Penny.
